The dimensioning study of high-pressure misting equipment and the supply of modern automatic adiabatic cooling systems, in order to increase the efficiency of six LIEBERT condenser cooling units and two CARRIER heat pumps, was successfully completed by the experts in adiabatic cooling applications, through high-pressure misting by ANDRIANOS.

The advanced automated Adiabatic cooling systems of ANDRIANOS are the ideal solution for the effective reduction of the incoming air temperature in the condensers of outdoor refrigeration units and HVAC units in general, resulting in a significant increase in their efficiency.

The problem: Frequent failures and interruptions in the operation of the compressors of the cooling machines, due to high temperatures, in two large buildings, in Larissa and Athens respectively

The two companies trusted the experts of ANDRIANOS to find the proper solution to this serious problem that occurs in condensers, when they have to convert the superheated steam of high pressure into a refrigerant fluid of the same pressure, when the surrounding temperature is too high, making the condensation process difficult.

Thanks to the special design and installation of the ANDRIANOS adiabatic cooling system, the temperature of the incoming air in the element has been dramatically reduced, thus achieving a lower condensation temperature. In this way, the compressors operate without any particular pressures and the cooling units greatly improve their efficiency, thus saving considerable energy and at the same time significantly increasing their service life over many years!

The solution to the problem: Automatic adiabatic cooling system

The goal of the experts of ANDRIANOS was first to study the system with the correct dimensioning of the machinery and equipment and then to set the appropriate operating parameters. As a result, the new adiabatic cooling system effectively reduces the temperature locally and without losses, so that the incoming air to the condensers is lower. On average, the temperature drop achieved with the adiabatic cooling system is 15°C! (In special temperature cases the temperature drop can be even higher!)

In a typical fan cooled air conditioning unit, if the temperature entering the condenser is lower by 6°C it will result in an efficiency improvement of the unit of 14% and if it is lower by 12°C the efficiency improvement will be approximately 25-30% greater, depending always on the current atmospheric conditions.

Under the special parameters carried out, we also adjusted the very important HRS temperature lag of the high pressure pump on/off timer. All necessary actions are adjusted via the advanced digital Tmp control box for the operation and control of the adiabatic system.

Operation of the adiabatic system is set to start automatically when the temperature received by the T sensor has reached levels that have been set specifically for each case, through the parameters in the Tmp control box and always according to the degree of hysteresis of the on/off of the pumps. The high-pressure pumps were dimensioned according to the needs of each project and the appropriate machinery and equipment were selected for their perfect and guaranteed proper operation.

These new installations in the six LIEBERT cooling units of a large communications company building in Larissa and in the two CARRIER chillers 500Kw in a central hotel in Athens, which were carried out last summer.The result was an immediate improvement of the operation of the machines and consequently of the efficiency of the air conditioning system, especially during the very hot days from the beginning of spring to autumn, as well as significant energy savings during these months, compared to previous summer seasons. This led to significant savings which will also bring a very quick return on investment, leaving our new customers completely satisfied!
